Established Options For a Wellbeing Programme

Guidance

More recently, the Circular Letter entitled ‘Arrangements for the Implementation of the Framework for Junior Cycle’ states that the school’s junior cycle programme 'must include guidance education'.  a minimum threshold has not been set as to how much time a school must provide for guidance related learning. Guidance is concerned with supporting students’ learning in three separated but interlinked areas of personal and social development, educational guidance and career guidance.

Provision can be made in a variety of ways: a dedicated short course, shorter units, as part of related subjects. For example, working in collaboration with other teachers to plan a unit of transition-related learning in the first term of the first year. (See programme 1). Useful LINK
